Kenmore Progressive Canister Motor Part # 119539-00 - Review

These vacs use Ametek motors which are practically designed to fail.Frequent complaints are a burning smell and louder than usual noise in the canister.The problem is the poor quality bearings Ametek uses in the motors in the units. They have low-end ball bearings with a nylon "crown" that breaks up and gums up the bearing.Further the fan end of the motor is a bear to get to because of poor (intentionally?) design. With great difficulty I WAS able to remove the fan and housing and inspect the bearing.Since finding a replacement is too much trouble or impossible, I cleaned up the ball bearings and switched the bearings on the two ends moving the remaining good one from the brush end to the fan end where I assume the load is. I packed the damaged one with grease.

Now the motor runs smoothly. I doubt however this jury rig will last very long. It is very irritating to toss a $80-$120 motor because of a failed bearing.Kenmore and Ametek should be embarassed but I'm sure they are NOT!

I have two dogs who are in and out of the house.So I needed a carpet cleaner to do the deep cleaning.This one really does the job.It's easy to use and extremely effective.I'm always amazed at how dirty the waste water tank is.I had a Bissell machine a few years ago that was awkward, hard to use, and quickly fell apart.So far, this machine seems very durable.However, time will tell.

Dyson Car Cleaning Kit for All Upright and Canister Models Part # 908909 - Review

Let me start by saying I love my Dyson vacuum cleaner.I have the DC14, and it is the best vacuum I have ever owned.This product unfortunately does not live up to my expectations for Dyson.

The "Car Turbine Head" barley works.If you apply any pressure to it, it will stop spinning.This means you have to lightly go over the surfaces so the brushes still spin, but since you are not applying pressure it does not get into the fabric to pick anything up.It is also useless on pet hair.

The "Stiff bristle brush" is OK.It does a decent job at picking up loose dirt.Anything else though it does not work on.

The "Flexi crevice tool" was the only nice piece in this whole kit.It worked well to get in between the seats and get everything out of there.

It only comes with 1 adapter for all 3 pieces. While this made sense to me at first, your will quickly learn it is a pain to switch them out.They snap into the attachment tool so tight that it is rather difficult to move it to the next tool.

All and all, this product was not worth the money. I would have rather just bought the crevice tool by itself.I ended up just using the Dyson "wand" for most of the car.

Swisher Vacuum Hose Wand Attachment Kit 10756 Review

I was pleased at first at the ease of use, but then the hose kept getting
loose or coming off completely! The "compression" band is not the best method of clamping a corrugated hose. The second time I used it the plastic under the handle completely broke out. Now I have to hold the hose with my hands to vacuum with it. Very cheap design especially considering what I paid. The Swisher vacuum itself works great but this hose extension kit is a poor buy. I would not recommend it.

Electrolux Versatility Upright Review

My husband bought this for me and I must say I was excited as it picks up so much more dirt than my other vacuum.I initially noticed it was quite heavy not so much to push, but just to hold in vacuuming position.Pros:Definately picks up the dirt and easy to empty. I don't smell the pet dander like I do with other machines and really believe this Hepa filter must do quite a bit cause in my old vacuums I couldn't stand to smell the dog and dirt smell left in the bags each time I vacuumed. Also has a separate feature for use on hardwoods and runs very quiet.Cons:Weight, the wheels are too tall and side of machine too large to fit under most cabinets, beds, etc.You'll end up banging up furniture and cabinets trying to get as close as possible to get the edges.I like the idea of just pulling out the handle for use of attachments but the hose and/or extension poles are not quite long enough to reach much and are not the easiest to use, feels like the machine will tip over if you pull too much on the hose.Needs to be much longer extension.Suction appears to be a little weaker when using attachments.The little round attached brush is a bit small in dimension and doesn't appear to be all that well made, but many of them are not anymore.I used it approx 3 different days and really tried to try out all features.The wheels are making a little rubbing sound after this short use, the cannister already has a scrape on it as the silver colored paint is not very durable.Overall I loved the pick up and think it really is a good cleaning vacuumn but believe that it could use some work on ease of use being weight, wheel size and more length for use of attachments.

So, what they did was have the item with "free" super saver shipping, after raising the price $20, then giving a "discount" of $10.50, which means your actual savings is .125%, not "18%".

Normally I'd save the $.45, but this was so sneaky, that I will be giving the manufacturer my business.

Hoover SteamVac Hose for F6 Series 43436023 90001334 Review

The Hoover Steam Vac Hose for the F6 series includes all the pieces I needed to replace the broken/leaking hose inside the carpet washer. We had repaired with duct tape several times where the hose bends sharply to hook up to the internal tank. The assembly I received included the nozzle/pull sprayer; a new triangular-shaped hand-held brush/vacuum piece; the hose itself (about 1.5 inches in diameter; same length as original), the interior hose (about the width of a big straw) that delivers water to the hand held sprayer; the end piece that attaches to the internal workings of the machine; a corner piece (already attached to the hose, shown in the right side of the Amazon photo) that snaps in to the body of the carpet washer (and forms a part of the outside edge of the washer body). Also includes a new rack to attach to the back of the carpet washer in case the old one has broken. These are all pre-assembled except the rack (one screw to install), and triangular brush (snaps on).

The hardest task was reviewing low-resolution schematics on other repair sites to determine part numbers for what I needed to purchase. Good news...all the pieces I thought I might have to purchase separately were included in this assembly, and it was pre-assembled. The straw-size hose is attached inside the larger hose, the end pieces are already affixed, etc. There are more pieces (the rack, the hand-held triangular brush) then shown in the photo.It was very easy to install. (One clue...cut the old hose off at the point where the old corner piece snaps in. Makes it easier to unsnap/remove the old hose assembly.)

Only tools you'll need are a flat head screwdriver and a Phillips head screwdriver.

My Hoover Steam Vac is good as new. Reasonable price for this replacement assembly.Shipped quickly.
